Whiskey Jacks

08/26/2013 - Twelve Means A Little More This Time Around

Gerald Morin was a man who seemed to have lived plenty of life. He brought stories to the dugout each and every time he stepped in it. A comic relief if you will. Just over a year ago, Gerald lost his life after a short battle with cancer. The Whiskey Jacks lost a dear friend and a teammate - a man with passion for the game and a special bond with those who played it. The Jacks hope to make it twelve in a row and dedicate it to their one and only number 12.

This Sunday, the 14-4 Whiskey Jacks will start their championship quest by hosting the 1-17 Expos, in the best-of-five, first round match up. The Jacks had a strong showing against the Expos in the regular season, going 6-0 with 76 runs for and only 23 against.

Strong pitching and defense will play a huge role in the Jacks gameplan, while they rely on key hits from their starting core. Chris Greer, who had an MVP type season (.543, 2HR, 18RBI) will look to continue his hot streak into the playoffs. Greer also had a stellar year on the mound. He hopes to continue that trend for at least a couple more weeks.
